African Police Officers undergo training on Mentoring and Advising at KAIPTC

Accra, October 2, 2017: A two-week Pilot Trainer of Trainers’ course on Mentoring and Advising, organized by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), in collaboration with the European Police Service Training (EUPST), has opened with fifteen (15) police officers from seven (7) African countries in attendance. The programme seeks to accomplish a number of objectives. It aims at building the capabilities of Police and Gendarmerie of the European Union, the United Nations, the African Union and other international organizations. Participants will also be equipped with operational capacity and law enforcement skills and knowledge, and receive information on ways to deepen personal relations and teamwork in diverse cultures, to foster a common understanding of international policing in the contexts of conflict resolution.

16th Session of West Africa Peacebuilding Institute (WAPI) ends

Accra, September 22, 2017: The 16th session of the West Africa Peacebuilding Institute has come to a close. In all, 53 participants from thirteen countries enrolled in the three-week training programme, jointly organized by the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. In attendance were Brig Gen Dr. Emmanuel Kotia, Deputy Commandant of KAIPTC, Mrs. Levinia Addae-Mensah, Programme Director of WANEP, Colonel Robert Affram, Director of Training, KAIPTC and Colonel Anita Asmah, Course Director, KAIPTC.

KAIPTC officially unveils new website

Accra, 4th September, 2017: The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has redesigned its website to reflect its strategic vision and direction. Fully funded by GIZ, the website now comes with improved features that allow simple and easy navigation for users, enables visitors to read latest information on key activities at the Centre at a glance, and facilitates quick access to KAIPTC’s resources.

“Peace must be backed by Action” – Interior Minister

Accra, 4th September, 2017: Hon. Ambrose Dery, Minister for the Interior, Ghana, has called for action in the pursuit of peace within the country and beyond. Laying emphasis on a quote by one of Africa’s greatest leaders Nelson Mandela, which states, “peace is the greatest weapon any person or community can have for development”, the Hon. Minister stressed that, “it cannot be over-emphasized that peace must be backed by action, and proactivity is the way to go”, he said.

Defence Minister opens Two-Week Course at KAIPTC

Accra, 4th September, 2017: The Honorable Minister for Defence, Ghana, Mr. Dominic Nitiwul, has opened a two week course at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), on “Managing Defence in a Wider Security Context”. The course which seeks to enable representatives from across the security sector to contribute to the development, implementation and review of national security and defence policies, is aimed, among others, at facilitating inter-ministerial co-ordination on security and defence issues.
