2024 Edition of Kofi Annan Peace and Security Forum Held

The KAIPTC once again served as the center of discussion, reflection, and action as prominent leaders from across Africa and the international community converged for the prestigious Kofi Annan Peace and Security Forum (KAPS Forum).  The forum’s theme, Migration and Societal Resilience in a Multipolar World Order: Addressing Conflicts and Building Peace in Africa, provided a framework to examine the complex and evolving security challenges facing Africa.

Held from February 28-29, 2024, the KAPS Forum provided a unique platform for policy makers, political leaders, diplomats, academics, and security experts to engage in productive discussions on migration and its complex relationship with gender, climate, development and conflict.   The forum focused on the impacts of migration and the importance of building resilience in Africa.

Jointly organized by KAIPTC and with support from the governments of Norway and Germany, this event continues to honour the legacy of Kofi Annan, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, who dedicated his life to peace and security.

Over 200 esteemed delegates including former African Heads of State and Vice Presidents, high-level diplomats, representatives from governmental and international organizations, convened at the KAPS Forum. Discussions centered on pressing issues like migration’s impact on gender, youth, and communities. Sub-themes explored the interplay between climate change, conflict and migration in Africa, along with demographic shifts in a multipolar world order.

These rich discussions aimed to generate actionable insights and foster collaborative solutions.
