A New Face, A Continuing Journey: Swiss Ambassador-Designate Pays Courtesy Call on KAIPTC Commandant

Accra, Ghana – 3 September 2026 – The Ambassador-designate of Switzerland to Ghana, Togo and Benin, Dr. Thomas Oertle, has paid a courtesy call on the Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), Air Vice Marshal David Anetey Akrong.

The visit provided an opportunity for the two sides to reaffirm the longstanding friendship between Switzerland and Ghana and to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation in peace and security, capacity-building and international collaboration.

Welcoming the Ambassador-designate, Air Vice Marshal David Anetey Akrong expressed appreciation for Switzerland’s continued engagement in peace and security initiatives. He highlighted the importance of strong institutional partnerships in promoting knowledge exchange, professional development and collective responses to emerging peace and security challenges.

The Commandant further emphasized the importance of preserving the longstanding traditions of friendship and cooperation between Ghana and Switzerland while creating opportunities for new areas of collaboration.
