Accra, Ghana – 4 September 2026 – A six-member German Parliamentary Delegation has paid a courtesy call on the Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), Air Vice Marshal David Anetey Akrong, as part of its engagement with the Centre.
The delegation, led by Thomas Röwekamp, Member of the German Bundestag and Head of the Defence Committee, was received by the Commandant and staff of the Centre.
During the courtesy call, Air Vice Marshal Akrong expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Germany for their continuous support and cooperation with KAIPTC, noting the important role the partnership has played in strengthening the Centre’s peacekeeping training and capacity-building efforts.
He further acknowledged the longstanding relationship between Ghana and Germany and commended the German Government for its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing peace and security in Africa.

Mr. Röwekamp, in his remarks, reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to continued cooperation with KAIPTC. He highlighted the importance of the Centre’s work in developing professional capacities for peacekeeping and strengthening regional and international efforts towards sustainable peace and security.
Following the courtesy call, the delegation was taken through a series of presentations by selected Heads of Departments at KAIPTC. The presentations provided the delegation with an overview of the Centre’s mandate, training programmes, research activities and its contribution to peace and security across Africa.
The engagement underscored the strong partnership between KAIPTC and Germany and the shared commitment to advancing peacekeeping, capacity building and international security.
