New Cohort of Postgraduate Students in Peace and Security and Gender Studies enrolled

The Centre welcomed 174 postgraduate students to its newest cohort on January 30, 2025, marking the start of a transformative academic journey.

The Orientation and Matriculation Ceremony marked the official commencement for the Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security (WMCPS 7), the Executive Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security (EMCPS 9), and the Master of Arts in Gender, Peace and Security (WMGPS 4) programmes.

The atmosphere was one of anticipation and excitement as students, hailing from various backgrounds and nationalities, took the matriculation oath.

The ceremony underscored the KAIPTC’s continued commitment to fostering academic excellence and equipping future leaders with the critical knowledge and skills necessary to address the complex peace and security challenges facing Africa.

The diverse cohort brings a wealth of experience and perspectives, promising a rich and collaborative learning environment.

Addressing the newly matriculated students, the Deputy Commandant, Air Commodore David Akrong emphasized the significance of their chosen fields of study, particularly in the current global landscape.

He highlighted the vital role these programmes play in shaping individuals who will contribute meaningfully to conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and the promotion of gender equality within the security sector.

“This Orientation and Matriculation Ceremony is not just a formality; it is the beginning of an exciting intellectual adventure”, Air Commodore Akrong said.   He said that while the students have chosen to dedicate themselves to understanding the intricate dynamics of conflict, the imperative of peace, and the crucial role of gender in achieving sustainable security, KAIPTC will ensure that their time at the Centre will empower them to become catalysts for positive change.
