KAIPTC Bolsters African Peacekeeping Capacity with Joint Campaign Planning Course

A crucial two-week Joint Campaign Planning Course aimed at strengthening the military capabilities of African nations engaged in regional peacekeeping operations has been held in Accra.

The initiative by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) with support from the Government of France brought together 19 participants from 14 diverse countries across the continent, including Chad, Senegal, Congo Brazzaville, Côte d’Ivoire, Madagascar, Benin, Ghana, Burundi, Lesotho, DR Congo, Cameroon, Mauritania, Togo, and Guinea Conakry.

The course provided operational-level training focused on the intricate planning processes involved in peace support operations as a vital component of effective conflict management.

At the opening ceremony, the Deputy Commandant of KAIPTC, Air Commodore David Akrong, underscored the Centre’s unwavering commitment to fortifying Africa’s peace and security architecture. He highlighted the increasingly complex nature of modern conflicts and the critical need for well-trained military personnel to navigate these challenges effectively. Echoing this sentiment, the French Ambassador to Ghana, Jules-Armand Aniambossou, reiterated the significance of strategic training initiatives in countering the evolving security threats facing the region. The collaborative effort between KAIPTC and the French government underscores the shared commitment to enhancing peace and stability across Africa.
