Norway supports KAIPTC to strengthen engagements with Civil Society Organisations

As part of efforts to strengthen engagements and partnerships with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the Region, the Government of Norway funded two missions to Senegal and Kenya from 28th November – 8th December 2022.  The trip to Senegal was to hold follow up discussions with Civil Society Organizations that participated in the Stakeholder Dialogue Series in Dakar in March 2022.  The trip to Kenya on the hand was a scoping mission to determine civil actors in the Eastern Block that the Centre could collaborate with in its work especially in its next strategic phase.

Meetings were held with CSOs and institutions including; Partners West Africa, Femmes. Afrique Soliditaire, Rencontre Africaine Pour La Defense Des Droits De L’homme (RADDHO), the Goree Institute, and University Cheikh Anta Diop (Institute of Defence Studies), Institute of Social Accountability (TISA), Power Shift Africa and UNDP  Kenya.

Discussions held centered around exploring partnerships in developing joint certificate courses, joint proposals for research and policy dialogues. Other areas of possible collaboration identified as common interest for KAIPTC and the CSOs included Youth in Peace & Security and Climate Change & Conflict.
