NEW STRATEGIC PLAN LAUNCHED

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has unveiled a new five-year strategic plan to solidify its position as a leading force in African peace and security.

The 2024-2028 plan outlines a comprehensive approach to equip civilians, military, and police professionals with the skills needed to effectively manage conflicts and contribute to peacebuilding efforts.   Supported by Norway and Germany (through GIZ), the strategic plan serves as a roadmap for KAIPTC’s activities over the next five years, strengthening its capacity to provide crucial support to peace and security across Africa.

The plan acknowledges the evolving nature of African security challenges, including geopolitical tensions, religious and ethnic conflicts, climate change, and violent extremism and highlights the Centre’s unwavering commitment to building a future where conflicts are effectively managed, human rights are universally respected, and peace is a tangible reality.

To achieve this, the Centre will focus on developing innovative training courses, expanding academic programs, and leveraging digital learning tools like artificial intelligence to ensure financial and institutional stability.

The plan was launched on April 25, 2024 bringing together stakeholders from the security sector, civil society organisations, development partners and KAIPTC staff. Visit KAIPTC-Strategic-Plan-2024-2028.pdf and download a copy of the plan.
