Maiden Editors’ Forum held with Funding from the Norwegian Government

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) held its maiden Editors’ Forum with the aim of strengthening ties with the media and raising awareness of the Center’s role in promoting peace and security in Africa. The forum comes amidst the celebration of KAIPTC’s 20th anniversary this year, of which a year-long celebration is being planned to commemorate its achievements in promoting peace and security on the continent.

Editors from Ghana’s leading media houses such as the Graphic Communications Group, Multimedia Group, Despite Media and prominent political/current affairs radio & TV hosts attended the forum.

Addressing journalists during the Editor’s Forum, the Commandant of KAIPTC, Major General Richard Addo Gyane highlighted the need for increased public awareness about the Center’s activities. He emphasized the importance of media partnerships in shaping public opinion and influencing policy decisions related to peace, security and development. He added that the KAIPTC has a new strategic plan, spanning 2024-2028 with critical new areas of focus including Technology and Peace, Women, Youth, Peace and Security, and Climate and Environmental Security.

The Commandant said the new plan offers a valuable opportunity for the Centre to collaborate with the media in shaping its implementation and ensuring a lasting impact in the years to come.
