The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and KAIPTC-WYPSI met on February 15, 2024 to align strategies and foster ongoing collaboration on supported projects.

The SIDA delegation led by Mr. Joachim Beijmo, Head of Regional Development Cooperation in Africa (Swedish Embassy, Addis Ababa) and Ms. Kajsa Salomonsson paid a courtesy call on the Commandant and some Executive Committee members of KAIPTC. In a meeting with the WYPSI Team and relevant representatives of supporting departments and units, the Director of WYPSI, Patience Agyare-Kwabi, delivered a presentation on the project’s theme, “Deepening the Role of Women and Youth in the Implementation of the Youth Peace and Security Agenda in Africa.”

Highlighting SIDA’s crucial role, she emphasized the project’s aim to strengthen the implementation of the Women, Peace, and Security agenda across Africa. With an expanded team and strategic vision focused on professional excellence, visibility and knowledge management, WYPSI is prioritizing partnerships with key organisations such as ECOWAS, AU, and UN to advance their work. The SIDA team recognised these goals and emphasized how SIDA’s extensive development cooperation experience aligns with WYPSI’s focus on visibility and collaboration in project success.

Discussions focused on strengthening monitoring and evaluation processes and establishing transparent communication channels. Director WYPSI’s commitment to addressing collaboration challenges faced in phase one demonstrates the team’s dedication to continuous improvement. With clear action points defined and open communication channels, the stage is set for a successful and impactful phase two of the SIDA project.
