KAIPTC Hosts Webinar on Ghana’s Role in Regional Security

This webinar on the theme “Exploring Ghana’s Role in Regional Security.” brought together experts to reflect on Ghana’s longstanding contributions to peace and security in West Africa, including its leadership in peacekeeping, mediation efforts, and regional diplomacy.

The discussion also explored Ghana’s recent engagements with the Alliance of Sahel States (AES)—Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger—and considered what this means for Ghana’s role in bridging divides and promoting stability in a region facing rising insecurity. The panel featured Prof. Kwesi Aning, Mr. Emmanuel Bombande, and Dr. Afua Yakohene, and was moderated by Dr. Naila Salihu.

Speakers emphasized Ghana’s potential to unify the region and called for stronger policy frameworks to reinforce its leadership in regional security. Panellists underscored Ghana’s historical credibility in regional affairs and highlighted the need for clear policy direction to sustain and strengthen its leadership amid evolving security dynamics.
