Experts and Stakeholders assemble at KAIPTC to discuss ways to counter violent extremism

Security experts and stakeholders converged at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) from 7-8 November, 2016, to interrogate the root causes of violent extremism and how Human Security Initiatives could be used to counter this growing trend on the African Continent. The two-day workshop served at a great platform to identify the roles of stakeholders at the national, regional and international levels in the prevention and countering of violent extremism, and to discuss ways in which adopting a human security approach and involving communities can aid traditional law enforcement methods in preventing and responding to  Violent Extremism.  The workshop was jointly organized by the KAIPTC in conjunction with African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT), and was sponsored by the Spanish Government.

KAIPTC Ranks first in Sub-Saharan Africa On Global Go-To Think Tank Ranking

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), has emerged the first institution in sub-Saharan Africa on the Global Go-To Think Tank Ranking. The KAIPTC also ranked second out of five institutions on the entire continent, who appeared on the global list of leading think tanks in foreign policy and international affairs. KAIPTC outranked the Institute for Security Studies and the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), both in South Africa, and the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), Ghana.

KAIPTC holds Joint Graduation Ceremony

A total of 89 students graduated from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), in a joint graduation ceremony held for students in the 2015/2016 classes of the Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security, Master of Arts in Gender, Peace and Security, and the Executive Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security.
