We Have A New Deputy Commandant

The Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Air Commodore David Akrong as the new Deputy Commandant with effect from 23rd October 2023.

The new Deputy Commandant, joins the KAIPTC family with an impressive background in Military Studies, Public Administration in Logistics Management, Military Operational Art and Science (small wars and counterinsurgency), Corporate Strategy amongst others.

A combat trained jet fighter, with over 24 years of flying experience and a military career spanning over 32 years, Air Commodore David Anetey Akrong has served in various leadership positions, including as the Director of Training at the Air Force Headquarters, the Chief Staff Officer at the Air Force Headquarters and Base Commander of Air Force Base, Tamale.

He has served in 3 peacekeeping missions, the African Union Peace and Security Department (Peace Support Operation Division) as the aviation planner with direct oversight of the air staff in AMISOM in Somalia, Acting Chief of the Continental Movement Coordination Centre (CMCC) with direct oversight of the 5 Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Regional Mechanisms (RMs) on the African Continent and as the team leader that reviewed the African Standby Force Strategic Lift Concept for the African Standby Force (ASF) in 2018.

Air Commodore David Akrong is a subject matter expert (SME) on Strategic lift for the African Standby Force and brings a wealth of knowledge and insights that will contribute significantly to KAIPTC’s continued growth and impact.
