The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre’s Women, Youth, Peace, and Security Institute is proud to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 by reaffirming its commitment to promoting gender equality in peace and security. As an institute dedicated to advancing the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda in Africa, we recognize the importance of ensuring the meaningful participation of women and youth in peacebuilding processes.
One of the key pillars of our work is capacity development, and we continue to invest in empowering women and youth with the knowledge and skills needed to actively contribute to peace and security efforts. Through a comprehensive array of training programs, workshops, sensitization and mentorship initiatives in countries such Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Niger, Central African Republic, South Soudan, Liberia, Togo, Benin, Uganda and Chad, Cote D’Ivoire, Senegal. We provide individuals and grassroots organizations with the tools to become effective peacebuilders, negotiators, and mediators in to advance the WPS agenda their communities
In addition to capacity development, WYPSI is deeply engaged in advocacy efforts to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality in peace and security. We work tirelessly to amplify the voices of women and youth, advocate for their rights, and promote their meaningful inclusion in decision-making processes related to peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
As part of our commitment to advancing the WPS agenda, we also actively support the development and implementation of national action plans on Women, Peace, and Security in Africa. We provide technical expertise to partners at the international, regional and national levels. By partnering with governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders, we facilitate the creation of action plans that are inclusive, comprehensive, and aligned with international standards on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
On this special occasion of the 25th anniversary of UNSCR 1325, the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre through its Women, Youth, Peace, and Security Institute reaffirms its dedication to advancing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda in Africa.
