The third Cohort of the “Inspiring African Women Leaders in Peace and Security Programme” was held at the KAIPTC on the 16th to 27th October 2023.  The two-week  flagship leadership training is funded by, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through its implementing agency GIZ-EPSAO and organized by WYPSI in partnership with the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP).

The course attracted over 100 applications across the continent, indicating its high demand for leadership training for women in middle management.  The training hosted at the KAIPTC, was attended by 20 participants from 12 African countries: Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, the Gambia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Swaziland and Uganda. Participants were taken through the seven themes of leadership: focusing on purpose, behaving authentically, owning your power, connecting across boundaries, integrating into a whole, having courage and agency, and being accountable. The training also provided participants with knowledge and skills in gender mainstreaming, advocacy and social marketing among others.  Over the next five months, participants will further be engaged through webinars and coaching sessions as they execute their leadership change initiatives.
