Technology and Security(T&S) Programme

The Technology and Security (T&S) Programme focuses on transformations in security technology, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, innovation, existential threats, and responses to threats. This includes human and national security paradigms; actors such as new and social media; emerging security issues; and multilateral responses to these threats. T&S unfolds into two broad sections: security and security technology.

Additionally, the T&S utilises the following intervention tools in its operations:

• Research as a tool for experiential learning
• Dialogue for peer learning and consensus building
• Capacity development for knowledge and skills transformation

Under the T&S Programme, KAIPTC is strengthening strategic partnerships through the review and conclusion of key MoUs with the African Union Commission, UNOWAS, and the Office of Ghana’s Special Envoy to the Alliance of Sahelian States and West Africa, while continuing to implement major projects, including the African Maritime Security Programme for the Gulf of Guinea of the Government of Denmark (2021-2026), covering West and Central Africa; UNDP SALIENT Fund project, advancing initiatives on small arms control in Ghana through a national survey and action plan; and a joint proposal with UNDP and the Government of Japan to strengthen continental coordination on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence governance in Africa.
