2nd December 2019: The Corporate Affairs Unit of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), with support from GIZ, has organized a two-day training on social media management for staff from the Unit and from all departments at the Centre. The training focused on equipping the selected individuals, who have been appointed as departmental focal persons for social media, on the usage and relevance of social media in promoting KAIPTC.
Facilitated by resource persons from Global Media Alliance (GMA), the training took participants through practical ways of optimising social media for organisational exposure and professional development, the various social media monitoring tools and the application of various new media platforms for different purposes.
Head of Corporate Affairs Unit at KAIPTC, Mrs. Rosemond Ebi-Adwo Aryeetey noted that with the introduction of KAIPTC’s new five-year strategic plan, it was critical for every staff member be a brand ambassador for the Centre, particularly in the digital space. She said stemming from the demand-driven approach adopted by the Centre to implement the plan, the training was proactively organized to strengthen the knowledge and skills of participants to become effective ambassadors and to support the visibility agenda for the Centre. She expressed gratitude to GIZ for funding the training.
On his part, the Senior Regional Advisor at GIZ, Dr. Christian Ani encouraged participants to “proactively engage with the Corporate Affairs Unit by sharing stories from their respective departments to help promote the Centre.”
After the training, participants gave their impressions of the workshop and unanimously noted that the training was very useful and practical, adding that they had received new knowledge and skills that they would immediately apply in their roles as focal persons for their departments.

About the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre:
The Ghana Ministry of Defence (MoD) established the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in 1998 and commissioned it in 2004.
