The Peace Operations, Stabilisation and Peacebuilding (POSTAP) Programme responds to evolving peace and security challenges in Africa, including changing UN, AU, and ECOWAS peace operations, the rise of stabilisation missions, political transitions, and complex conflict environments. The programme advances research, capacity building, and policy dialogue to strengthen the effectiveness, legitimacy, and sustainability of peace operations, stabilisation efforts, and peacebuilding initiatives at the local, national, and regional levels through three thematic areas: Peace Operations, Stabilisation, and Peacebuilding. The primary objectives of the programme are to:

  • Enhance understanding of contemporary peace operations, stabilisation, and peacebuilding dynamics.
  • Strengthen the effectiveness and accountability of peace and stabilisation interventions.
  • Support evidence-based policy and practice for conflict prevention and post-conflict recovery.
  • Promote locally grounded, inclusive, and sustainable peacebuilding approaches.
