KAIPTC Evaluates Regional Project Supporting the Accra Initiative

The Centre has completed a project evaluation mission in Mali and Nigeria to assess the impact of its regional programmes supporting the Accra Initiative (AI) in West Africa and the Sahel.

The mission, conducted between February and May 2025, was part of a one-year project implemented by KAIPTC in partnership with the Government of Japan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It examined the effectiveness of activities aimed at strengthening the implementation of the Accra Initiative, particularly in enhancing counter-terrorism cooperation and community resilience across the region.

Field visits to Mali and Nigeria—two focal countries where training sessions and stakeholder dialogues were held—provided valuable insights into local implementation and engagement processes. The evaluation team engaged beneficiaries, government institutions, and civil society actors through interviews, questionnaires, and document reviews to measure both immediate results and long-term outcomes.

Findings from the mission highlighted the importance of accountability and knowledge transfer, while highlighting the practical application of skills and strategies shared during the project. The evaluation also reaffirmed KAIPTC’s commitment to promoting collaborative and inclusive approaches to peace and security in response to the complex challenges facing West Africa and the Sahel.
