Job Title:                    Senior Assistant Registrar

Department:              Faculty of Academic Affairs (FAA)

Reports to:                 Dean, FAA

Supervises:                Assistant Registrars and other academic staff

 

JOB PURPOSE

Lead in the effective management of academic programs, processes and services that delivers optimal support to students, faculty and to support the Dean in the design and implementation of academic programs and activities, including student admission, registration, class and examination scheduling, student awards, curriculum review, academic calendar publication, graduation and records management.

 

MAIN DUTIES

  1. Develop and disseminate annual academic calendar for the Faculty.
  2. Support the review of academic and administrative policies and recommend changes and when required, draft new policies for consideration by the appropriate committees.
  3. Responsible for ensuring compliance with academic, regulatory and accreditation policies and requirements.
  4. Serve as the official authorized keeper of student records in the absence of a substantive Registrar and ensure the integrity, accuracy, currency, and security of all student records and assessment results, data and information.
  5. Lead in processes relating to student registration, orientation/matriculation and graduation functions.
  6. Analyzes statistical data on registration and other records to provide needed information for policy formulation.
  7. Responsible for budgeting and financial planning for smooth running of Faculty.
  8. Compose routine reports, letters, memoranda and other correspondence as required.
  9. Serve as the secretary to the Academic Board in the absence of the substantive Registrar.
  10. Perform any other task within the scope and content of the job as assigned by the Dean or Registrar.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational /Work Experience

  • Master’s degree in the Social Sciences, Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least 7 years administrative working experience. Work experience in an academic institution or related area will be an advantage.

  • Willingness to work on weekends and on demand.
