Advancing KAIPTC’s Sustainability and Strategic Positioning in a Changing Security Landscape Takes Centre Stage at High-Level Meeting

At the 3rd High-Level and 50th Governing Board Meeting of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), discussions focused on advancing the Centre’s sustainability and strengthening its strategic positioning within an evolving regional and global security landscape.

In his remarks, the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Brogya Genfi, underscored the importance of reinforcing the Centre’s financial and institutional base to support the effective delivery of its mandate. He highlighted the need for sustained collaboration, partnerships, and shared responsibility in navigating emerging challenges and opportunities.

The Commandant of KAIPTC, Air Vice Marshal David Akrong, reaffirmed that the Centre’s operations remain firmly guided by its strategic plan, noting its continued commitment to delivering impact while adapting to a dynamic operating environment. He emphasised the importance of strategic alignment, innovation, and responsiveness to partner expectations in ensuring continued relevance.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders and partners to reflect on the Centre’s evolving role and explore pathways for enhancing its long-term sustainability and operational effectiveness.

Participants underscored the importance of strengthening institutional capacity, prioritisation, and adaptive approaches to ensure that KAIPTC remains responsive to the complex peace and security challenges facing the sub-region. Discussions also highlighted the Centre’s enduring role as a critical hub for training, research, and dialogue in support of peace and stability in West Africa.

The Austrian Ambassador, H.E. Jurgen Heissel, described KAIPTC as a pillar in the peace and security architecture, noting that the Centre stands at a critical juncture where coordinated and forward-looking efforts are essential to addressing emerging regional challenges.

The meeting further emphasised the value of sustained strategic engagement in positioning KAIPTC to continue delivering on its mandate while remaining resilient and impactful in a changing security landscape.
