Acting Commandant of KAIPTC Pays Courtesy Call on Minister for Defence

As part of efforts to deepen strategic collaboration with key national stakeholders, the Acting Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), Air Commodore David Anetey Akrong, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah.

The visit, held at the Ministry of Defence, provided an opportunity for the Acting Commandant to formally engage the Honourable Minister on the vision and strategic priorities of the Centre.

Air Commodore Akrong emphasized KAIPTC’s commitment to serving as a credible think-tank in the peace and security space and expressed the Centre’s readiness to support the Ministry of Defence and other governmental institutions through research, policy dialogue, training, and knowledge-sharing.

He also extended a formal invitation to the Honourable Minister to actively support the Centre’s upcoming Challenge Forum, scheduled for October 2025, and sought his continued assistance towards the completion of KAIPTC’s Training and Academic Block, which would serve as a lasting legacy for advancing the Centre’s mandate.

Dr Omane Boamah, who also serves as the Chair of the KAIPTC Governing Board, welcomed the Acting Commandant and reiterated his appreciation of the Centre’s strategic role in shaping Ghana and Africa’s peace and security architecture. He assured the Centre of his office’s continued support and encouraged sustained collaboration to achieve shared goals.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the KAIPTC leadership to build strong institutional alliances and reaffirm the Centre’s relevance and contribution to national, regional, and international peacebuilding efforts.
