President Nana Akufo-Addo inaugurates Goodwill Ambassadors for KAIPTC

Accra, 20 December, 2017: President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Republic of Ghana, has officially inaugurated a group of eminent global personalities as Goodwill Ambassadors for the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC).  They are;

  • Her Excellency Ellen Margrethe Loj, Former Special Representative of the Secretary General – United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and United Nations Mission in South Sudan ( UNMISS)
  • His Eminence Cardinal Peter Kodwo Turkson, First Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, Vatican City
  • Mary Chinery-Hesse, Former Member of the African Panel of the Wise and Former Chief Advisor to the President of the Republic of Ghana
  • HE Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West-Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS)
  • Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Ghana and Investment Banker
  • Her Excellency Dr. Hadja Saran Daraba Kaba, Secretary General, Manu River Union Secretariat

The President performed the inauguration as the Special Guest of Honour at KAIPTC’s sixth joint graduation ceremony held on Wednesday, 20th December, for graduates of Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security (MCPS), Master of Arts in Gender, Peace and Security (MGPS), and Executive Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security (EMCPS).

The Ambassadors will support to enhance the international visibility and long term sustainability of KAIPTC by engaging in public advocacy, networking, leveraging funds and strategic partnership on behalf of the institution, and also share their valuable technical knowledge and experiences on KAIPTC’s strategic direction.

Dr. Mary Chinery-Hesse was appointed the Chairperson of the Goodwill Ambassadors. A day prior to the inauguration, the ambassadors received detailed briefings on the core operations of KAIPTC.
