JOB PURPOSE
The CD is responsible to the Director of Training for delivering KAIPTC programmed courses, conferences, seminars, workshops assigned to him. The CD is the principal point of contact at KAIPTC with specific responsibility for course content and delivery. The CD is also the focal point for the Department and KAIPTC on courses / events /workshops. In addition, the CD acts as the focal person on course related activities on behalf of the Centre. Course Directors are ultimately responsible for the planning and execution of their courses and are to ensure that all preparations are properly completed prior to the start of the course.
Main Duties
Management
-Organises LDDs in collaboration with other stakeholders.
-Pilots new courses and conducts course reviews.
-Ensures quality control of course content. Must ensure that the course remains current and relevant to the region and continent at all times, in line with ECOWAS/AU/UN training needs.
-Identifies appropriate experts to facilitate various modules of the course. Guides experts on module content and supervises training delivery (payment is only made after CD certifies that ToR requirements have been met).
-Ensures an international mixture of facilitators at each course.
-Prepares ToRs for contracting experts/facilitators. The CD or donor partner’s representative should initial all pages of the contract where appropriate.
-Prepares course budgets in cooperation with the donor nations representatives at KAIPTC and manages funds for the course in line with the KAIPTC finance policy guidelines.
-Organises periodic course review sessions to ensure that courses remain relevant to current conflicts and PSO trends in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
-Leads in the selection and management of participants on the LMS with the TED Unit. He also ensures that all participants successfully go through the e-learning package where applicable before the course commences. CDs set up the course modules on the LMS, which form the basis for the completion of the Daily Feedbacks/ELQs by participants and facilitators.
-Ensures that participants who fail to report on the third day of 2/3 weeks courses or on the first day of 1 week, courses are disqualified.
-Manages course resources and ensures that timely financial reports are prepared and submitted to donors at the end of the course.
Planning and Coordination
Ensures that the following aspects of administration and logistics for the training are completed correctly and timely:
-Budgeting
-Advertisement
-Facilitation of selection, vetting and invitation of new Facilitators
-Participant selection
-E-learning
-Ticketing/Visas
-Accommodation
-Airport pick-up
-Feeding
-Transportation
-Social events
-Lecture hall set up/interpretation arrangements
-Course documentations/certification.
Teaching / Facilitation
-Teaching delivery/facilitation of selected modules/topics on the course and on other courses where they qualify.
-Ensures that facilitators teaching notes are abreast with current PO trends and in line with UN/AU/ECOWAS training guidelines.
-Report Writing
-Provides a report at the end of every course development, training session and review workshops.
-Responsible for writing opening/closing ceremony speeches/talking points and all correspondences related to the course.
–Liaison
The CD is responsible for liaison and slot allocation to the ECOWAS/AU/ RECs /RMs/sister TCEs on all related trainings.
Liaises with the Chief Coordinator to ensure that invitations to VIPs (e.g. Ambassadors/High Commissioners or their representatives) are sent out at least 14 days prior to the opening and or closing ceremony. In addition, they are responsible for the active use of the LMS in the preparation and delivery of their courses.
Publicity
Although the Corporate Affairs Unit is responsible for the advertising KAIPTC’s courses, the CDs support this function through alumni platforms of workshops/courses attended, social media and any other legitimate means. CDs are responsible for sending their adverts in English to Corporate Affairs, who would then have it translated into French for publishing on the website.
Stakeholder Engagement
The CD with the Senior Stakeholder Engagement Officer collaborates with the sponsors/partners (Partner Nations Representatives at the KAIPTC, GIZ, UN, AU, APSTA, and ECOWAS) on funds management, through communication and periodic reporting on trainings and workshops conducted. This ensures mutual satisfaction between KAIPTC and the Donor on funds usage and course delivery. The CD also acts as liaison with regional bodies/countries on slot allocations/nominations for courses.

KAIPTC COVID-19 Special Guidelines for International Course Facilitators and Course Participants travelling to KAIPTC:
1. Kindly read the Ghana Government, the KAIPTC COVID-19 General and Special Guidelines for International travellers carefully and be advised accordingly (click here to read);
2. It is mandatory to upgrade your health insurance to cover expenses for possible COVID-19 quarantine and treatment.
3. The cost of the three (3) COVID-19 PCR tests up to a total of USD 450 – will be reimbursed for participants of sponsored KAIPTC courses. The tests comprise one before embarkation to Ghana, one at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) and the final test prior to departing Ghana. All receipts are required for reimbursements to be made.
4. Course participants accommodated at KAIPTC are required to stay on-site during the entire duration of the course.
5. Neither the Ghana Government, the Ghana Ministry of Defence, KAIPTC, the Course Sponsor nor the organising country, can be held responsible in any way for further costs arising out of a positive COVID-19 test or a COVID-19 infection.

KAIPTC COVID-19 Directives spéciales pour les animateurs et les participants aux cours internationaux qui se rendent au KAIPTC :
1. Veuillez lire attentivement les directives générales et spéciales du KAIPTC COVID-19 à l’intention des voyageurs internationaux et en tenir compte (cliquez ici pour lire – uniquement en anglais) ;
2. Il est obligatoire d’améliorer votre assurance santé pour couvrir les frais d’une éventuelle quarantaine et d’un traitement COVID-19.
3. Le coût des trois (3) tests PCR COVID-19 – jusqu’à un total de 450 USD – sera remboursé aux participants des cours parrainés par le KAIPTC. Les tests comprennent un test avant l’embarquement pour le Ghana, un test à l’aéroport international de Kotoka (KIA) et le test final avant le départ du Ghana. Tous les reçus sont nécessaires pour effectuer les remboursements.
4. Les participants aux cours hébergés au KAIPTC sont tenus de rester sur place pendant toute la durée du cours.
