Job Title:       Assistant Librarian

Department:  Office of the Commandant (OOC)

Reports To:   Head Librarian

 

 

Purpose

To assist in the management of the library at the Centre to provide a state of the art services to faculty, students and staff.

 

Main Duties

  1. Assist to implement library and information policies and procedures.
  2. Assist in managing convenient, accessible library and information services.
  3. Prepare routine reports related to library and information services, technology, resources and activities.
  4. Update both printed and electronic information resources.
  5. Catalogue books and other information resources.
  6. Assist in the collection of books, periodical and journals.
  7. Ensure efficient retrieval by users.
  8. Maintain a friendly and inviting learning environment and promote the enjoyment of reading.
  9. Provide instruction to users on search strategies.
  10. Locate materials and answers questions of users.
  11. Assist in the development of long range/strategic library goals and applications.
  12. Perform related duties as required by librarian.

 

 

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualification/Experience

A Master’s degree in Library Science, Library and Information Science or information studies from an accredited institution. Professional certification is desirable. At least 5 years working experience in an academic or university library. Membership of Ghana Library Association (GLA) is desirable. Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
