H.E. Paolo Gentiloni, Prime Minister of Italy, delivers Public Lecture at KAIPTC

Accra, 28 November, 2017: His Excellency, Paolo Gentiloni, Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy on Tuesday, 28th November, addressed some members of the Diplomatic Corps, invited representatives from public, private and civil society organizations, serving and retired personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces, and staff of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC).

The focus of his public lecture was on Italy’s contribution to global peace and security, and his country’s goal to work with Ghana and Africa to address issues of deep concern to both Africa, Italy and by extension Europe. He noted that Africa faces a number of challenges that calls for continuous regional and inter-regional collaboration. He mentioned the youth bulge in Africa, noting that the youth must be provided jobs and opportunities to unleash their full potential.

He noted that the Italian Armed Forces delivers training to countries to fight terrorism, and indicated Italy’s preparedness to work with Ghana to confront this global threat to peace and security.

This historic visit was commemorated with a tree planting in KAIPTC’s Peace Garden.
