Introduction

The development Diplomacy Programme (DDP) was introduced into the KAIPTC training catalogue as part of a 3 year development programme in collaboration with InWent.

Course Description

The DDP Course is a 5 week residential course to be held at the KAIPTC, Accra, Ghana.  It will be conducted in English, using Problem Based Learning methodology. The course explores the contribution of regional and international cooperation in addressing the political, economic, ecological and social dimensions of conflicts in Africa and develops practical skills for interventions. Its particular focus will be the role of governments and regional organisations in strengthening the resilience of African societies against external shocks and internal strife by promoting social integration and building legitimate and effective institutions. The curriculum of this training course centres on these challenges by considering African and international institutional frameworks for security cooperation. Moreover, the responses of various actors at national and regional level approaches to conflict management in Africa, as well as the needs of participants for deepening soft skills for analysis, communication/mediation and strategy development are emphasised.
