| Biography |
| After education in electronics and electro-techniques he built up in the late 70th and 80th with a developing team tactical simulator for tank-commanders and -gunners for the Swiss Armed Forces (SAF) mechanized centre in Thune. Later on after studies at the ETHZ, department XI, army science, he got an Army Professional Officers and instructor in mechanized branch. Starting 1993 he was involved in the development of the Command Simulator at brigade level in combined combat in Israel and Switzerland.
From 1997 on Col (GS) Dieter Schneider was Head of Development (FhrSim95) at the Tactical Training Centre attached to the SAF Training and Education Centre at Lucerne. Studies at the defence academy in Helsinki, Finland enlarged the education on staff and commander’s procedures. By 2001 he was promoted as head of Controlling and IT-support at the SAF Logistics branch and since 2005 he served as the Head of Program "C4ISTAR-CSO" at SAF command support organisation (CSO).
By October 2004 Col (GS) Schneider finalized successfully a Master Science in Management-Information Systems at GSBA and University of Wales. By November 2005 he started to study for a PhD on the subject of information fusion at the Tel Aviv University (suspended).
From July 2007 to April 2008 Col (GS) Schneider commanded as the National Contingent Commander the 17th SWISSCOY Contingent CHE in KFOR, Kosovo – Suva Reka. In June 2008 he got promoted to be a Course Director at KAIPTC in Ghana, where he leads the Diplomatic Development Program (DDP) and the Integrated Peace Support Operations (IPSO) courses.
