The Peacekeeping Studies (PKS) Department conducts multi-disciplinary courses suitable for the full spectrum of military, security sector, diplomatic and non-governmental agencies likely to be involved in peace operations. These courses are designed to improve the ability of participants to operate in multinational, multi-facetted environments and to cooperate with contingents from other countries, and to keep participants abreast of the nature and complexities of contemporary inter- and intra-state conflicts.
The PKS Department is currently composed of an international military staff but is soon to be augmented by a policeman as a Course Director. The Department provides focused and practical training appropriate for the sub-region but will embrace an increasingly wide range of subjects and participants as the focus widens to include the whole of Africa and beyond.
