To develop and deliver internationally recognized and professional training courses and related programmes to equip personnel with selected skills and competencies required to meet Africa’s present and future complex peace and security challenges.

The immediate objectives or purpose of the Centre are:

1. To contribute to the development of a regional and sub-regional capacity in the delivery of integrated peace support operations;

2. To enhance regional and sub-regional capacity for conflict prevention, management,  resolution and peacebuilding;

3. To enhance understanding of critical peace and security in West Africa in particular and the continent as a whole; and

4. To create an effective, efficient and sustainable management and  support arrangement for the KAIPTC.
