Collective Training

INTRODUCTION

The Field Training Team (FTT) is an integral part of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC).It is solely responsible for conducting pre-deployment training for Ghanaian troops who have successfully qualified to participate in International Peacekeeping Missions in conflict ravaged regions of the world. As part of the Ghana Armed Forces Operations, Training and Logistics (OPSTRALOG) directive, any battalion nominated to embark on a peacekeeping mission is expected to undergo a one month pre-deployment training to prepare the troops mentally and physically for the Operational Area (AO). FTT has so far trained over 21,500 Ghanaian peacekeepers as of March 28, 2011.

The training normally takes place at the Ghana Armed Forces Battle Training Camp(BTC) at Bundase. Bundase is located about 7kms east Accra, on Dawhenya–Sogakope road and spans an area of approximately 10kms square.
