Conflict and Security Programme
The Conflict and Security (CS) Programme is one of four (4) Research Programmes at the KAIPTC. The programme seeks to contribute to the transformation of aspects of the work of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), specifically in the transformation of existing regional security setting - from a state to a human focused security set up. This transformation is aimed at promoting good governance through the establishment of democratic controls in the security systems to which member states have committed themselves to uphold.
The Conflict and Security Programme, which is planned for implementation between 2010 and 2013, will support the implementation of key elements of the ECOWAS Security Sector Governace (SSG) agenda primarily through research, training and advocacy.
The programme is financially supported by the Swedish and Danish governments.
